Urgent Care at BoosterPet @ Renton, Puyallup & Bonney Lake

All of our locations offer Urgent Care appointments for patients who benefit from seeing a veterinarian in person.

Urgent Care appointments are for those pets who are not feeling well and seeing a doctor directly is indicated. See below for more details.

Think of Urgent Care as the bridge between Wellness and Emergency. The same conditions that would send you to these different levels of doctors apply to your pet. Walk-ins are welcome - we triage cases based on their urgency. Give us a call at 206-822-4991 and we can book your spot.

Pets that see our Urgent Care are not so sick that they may need to spend the night in the hospital or require specialty care. These patients may need diagnostics (imaging, bloodwork) and even some outpatient supportive care (fluids, medications), but are well enough to go home the same day with their owner.

If you are unsure of which clinic to schedule at, please call us and we are happy to help direct you to where you need to be.

Is it Urgent?

  • Wellness Appointments

BoosterPet offers wellness appointments at all of our neighborhood clinics. Routine veterinary care such as vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental evaluations, ear cleanings, treating allergic skin, etc are examples of wellness appointments. Our technician led appointments offer you convenient and affordable wellness care in your own neighborhood. If you don’t know which type of appointment you should book, just give us a call at 206-822-4991. In most cases, we can get you a same day appointment in one of our neighborhood clinics.

  • Urgent Care

Urgent Care appointments are available at our Renton and Puyallup locations. Click here for hours. These appointments are for pets that are best served with an in-person veterinarian visit but do not have life-threatening conditions. Things like bite wounds, urinating blood, cuts/abrasions, coughing, diarrhea or vomiting, pain or limping are all examples of ideal urgent care appointments. Don’t know which appointment to select? No problem, just give us a call at 206-822-4991 and we will help;)

  • Emergency Care

BoosterPet does not offer emergency care. Emergency services are needed if your pet is experiencing a life-threatening condition, such as difficulty breathing, seizures, foreign body ingestion, hit by car, broken bones, difficulty delivering puppies/kittens, distended or bloated abdomen, straining to urinate. Click below for a list of ERs in the South Sound area. If you don’t know which appointment to select, just give us a call at 206-822-4991 and we will help to determine the best place for your pet to be seen. We are here for you so please don’t hesitate to call.

Urgent Care Vs Emergency Care

  • Urgent Care (Provided in Renton & Puyallup)

Urgent Care exams are ideal for pets who need to be seen by a veterinarian and their condition is not life-threatening and doesn’t require an overnight hospitalization. Walk-ins are welcome or you can schedule a same day appointment online.

It’s similar to when you would choose a human urgent care over the emergency room. Some common ailments seen in Urgent Care are:

    1. Vomiting or diarrhea

    2. Change in urination

    3. Limping

    4. Lethargy (pet seems a bit “off”)

    5. Coughing or sneezing

    6. Itchy skin

    7. Ear infection

    8. Bite wounds

    9. Laceration repair

    10. Squinting

    11. Hives / rash

    12. Something seems “not quite right”

  • Emergency Care (Not Provided)

Emergency Care is for pets who have a life-threatening condition and/or require overnight hospitalization. We know these days that veterinary ERs are really busy and need to concentrate their efforts on their most sick patients. Therefore, it’s important that pets make it to the correct place (ie Urgent Care vs Emergency).

If you have any questions about where your pet should be seen, call us at 206-822-4991 or you can also call your local animal ER. Conditions which are best treated through an animal ER are:

    1. Non-ambulatory (can’t walk or needs a lot of assistance to stand)

    2. Seizures

    3. Difficulty breathing

    4. Large trauma, such as hit by a car

    5. Vomiting blood

    6. Broken bone(s)

    7. Distended abdomen

    8. Cannot urinate (especially male cats)
