Get Ready for Summer Travel with Your Pets

With summer just around the corner, many of you may be planning trips that include your furry family members. To help ensure a smooth journey, please keep the following in mind:

  • Valid Health Certificate: Most states and airlines require a current health certificate issued within 10 days of travel. Schedule a pre‐travel exam so we can complete this paperwork in time.

  • Up‐to‐Date Vaccinations: Check that your pet’s rabies, Bordetella (kennel cough), and other required vaccines are current. Some destinations also mandate specific immunizations—just ask us if you’re headed out of state.

  • Parasite Prevention: Make sure flea, tick, and heartworm preventives are on schedule; these protections are especially important during warmer months.

  • Microchip & ID Tags: If your pet isn’t already microchipped, now is a great time to consider it. Double‐check that your contact information on file is accurate, and affix a travel‐specific ID tag with your mobile number.

  • Packing Essentials: Bring extra food, medications, a leash, and familiar bedding or a favorite toy to minimize stress. If your pet is prone to motion sickness or anxiety, talk to us about possible medication or calming strategies.

By preparing in advance, you’ll help ensure that your pet’s travel experience is comfortable and compliant with any destination requirements. Feel free to call or email the clinic for a pre‐travel appointment or if you have any questions about health certificates or vaccination schedules.

Thank you again for the privilege of caring for your pets. Wishing you all a wonderful summer of adventures—both near and far!
